1 Museum
 
Definitely New Zealand's finest museum - full of fascinating pacific history. Four hours can easily be lost in Here.
2 Botanical Gardens & Victorian Glass Hot House
 
200 yards from the Museum, these Victorian hot houses attract visitors world wide, entrance is free.
3 Come Sailing on our catamaran yacht Whiskers
 
One day to one week on the fabulous Hauraki Gulf. Learn to sail with a professional skipper, learn chart work, steering, heaving an anchor and boat handling. No experience required - make it a learning holiday.
4 Walk beautiful unspoilt Takapuna Beach
 
(1 mile long) or 10 others just like it on Auckland North Shore.
5 Boat ride to Coromandel and back
 

I can arrange an all day ride across Hauraki Gulf to pretty town of Coromandel- perhaps to see dolphins on the way)Bus into town for asts,crafts and eats, then to a well known potter, and a gold stamping battery, relic of bygone days.Back in town in time for dinner.

9 Sail on a real Americas Cup Yacht
 
for 2 hours  or you could do a 2 night 3 day trip on it to Bay of Islands.
10 Drive a long Scenic Drive
 
West of Auckland, to Piha Beach, KareKare Beach (where The Piano was filmed) and Gannet (large seabird) colony at Murawai, - one of only 2 colonies in the world on the mainland.
11 Ferry to Waiheke Island,
 
40 minutes by fast catamaran - arts, vineyards, lovely coastal walks, white sandy beaches
12 Climb to the top of the Auckland Skytower
 
2 ½ climb  or bungy jump off if you dare.
13 Visit the Kelly Tarlton Underground Aquarium
 
a very special experience. Have large sharks and stingrays swimming over your head- see King Penguins breeding on the ice.
14 See Orcas and dolphins
 
In the viewing catamaran 'Dolphin Explorer'. They guarantee viewing or a free trip We have even seen them occasionally from our front window.
15 Canyoning
 

Man- this should really be at the top of the list. I am 65 and have just done the most scary, exhilirating exciting full day experience of my life- Going canyoning. If you want to know more I can send you a story I wrote. The two words that describe- Bloddy fantastic!

16 Eat the best of foods of our multi ethnic society
 
European, Japanese, Chinese, French, Thailand, Indian and more – we can point you to the best.

Jazz clubs, Irish pubs, Ethnic Bars and many, many clubs that swing all night.
18 Quad bikes at the Woodhill Forest
 
yeah - do it !! Neat fun for ALL ages. Blow out the cobwebs on a guided quad bike safari. No experience required Roam over farm, through forest and along black sand West coast beach on your 300cc quad bike.
19 Horse riding at Woodhill Forest
 
also great. Through the forest – it has deer- you ride out and along the 30 mile Murawai beach.

walk or small train ride to dams and water catchment areas of Auckland.

22 Go for a wonderful leisurely bike ride
 

We have pushbikes and helmets -take the ferry to the city and ride the bike trail 10 kilometres along the waterfront. Beautiful - pass Orakei marina, white sand beaches,coffee shops, resturantes,gorgeous roller bladers

23 Drive or ferry to Devonport
 
See the WW 2 tunnels and disappearing guns from top of Mt Victoria- then go to North head for even more.
24 Walk over Harbour Bridge
 
and through the harbour bridge – and bungy jump into the water.
25 Waiwera Hot Pools
 
One hour drive North of Auckland, these thermal heated pools are public, and can get crowded, but in one you can soak and watch a full length movie on a mega screen
Within an easy driving distance of Auckland

1. Coromandel Peninsula
    Seems to be every visitors favourite. Visit Hot Water Beach where you can dig your own hot pool in the sand.
